Weekapaug Green

The Weekapaug Fire District and Weekapaug Green are sponsoring a Farmers' Market every Friday morning from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. in
the Fire District parking lot, next to
the Innlet, beginning June 26 and continuing through September 4.

The Farmers' Market will feature locally grown and mostly organic food from such local vendors as Hidden Brook Gardens and Narragansett Creamery. Items will include fresh vegetables, baked goods (including fresh bread), delicious locally made organic cheeses, fresh eggs, honey, herbs, and flowers (annuals).

• June 26 -- 8:30-11:30 a.m. Farmers’ Market
• July 2 -- 11:30 a.m. WG Kick-off Meeting featuring a speaker on wind energy in RI.
• July 3 -- 8:30-11:30 a.m. Farmers’ Market
• July 7 -- 8 p.m. Movie: "The Real Dirt on Farmer John," WYC.
  A true story of a farmer who transforms his family farm into a new form of agriculture in rural America.
• July 8, 9 -- WYC Environmental Education for Kiddie Kampers.
  WG volunteers will read a book and talk about caring for our environment.
• July 10 -- 8:30-11:30 a.m. Zero Emissions Day and Farmers’ Market.
  Environmental and conservation groups will be represented and there will be displays featuring alternative energy.
• July 11 -- 9 a.m. Weekapaug Clean-up Day, Innlet.
  This event is spearheaded by Alex Breakstone and the Kids Weekapaug Green Team. It is an opportunity for the youth of Weekapaug to take an active role in maintaining our community.
• July 12 -- 8:30 p.m. Lights Out Night.
  Turn out all your lights for a half an hour.
• July 17 -- 8:30-11:30 a.m. Farmers’ Market
• July 24 -- 8:30-11:30 a.m. Farmers’ Market
• July 26 -- 11 a.m. Weekapaug Green Kids’ Parade.
  Children will gather at the Chapel and parade to the WFD parking lot where there will be a bike/stroller swap.
• July 28 -- 7:30 p.m. Climate Change Update by Dave Oliver, Chapel.
  Dave Oliver returns to update us on the latest scientific data about climate change and alternative energy options.
• July 31 -- 8:30-11:30 a.m. Farmers’ Market
• August 1 -- Pedal Power Day.
  Leave your car at home and ride your bike around Weekapaug.
• August 4 -- 7:30 p.m. Movie: "Sense of Wonder," WYC.
  A documentary based on Rachel Carson’s life, moderated by Mark Bullinger.
• August 7 -- 8:30-11:30 a.m. Farmers’ Market
• August 11 -- 6:30 p.m. Pizza and Movie: "WALL-E," WYC.
  Academy Award winning Pixar movie for all ages.
• August 12, 13 -- WYC environmental education for Kiddie Kampers.
